Child prostitutes, Scientology in Queen Anne, Tuba Man alleged gang member. These were the highlights of a recent online Seattle newspaper. What in your life is so mundane that you have to read about child prostitution to make it exciting? What does this say about you?
The media adheres to no standards. While you would likely not allow your children to watch an “R” movie about child prostitution, you’ll watch the 5 o’clock news, even with the kids present. What’s more, you buy into the hype in pre-news program commercials – “It’s in your freezer. It could kill you. News at 11.” Nothing in your freezer is going to kill you unless you have a bomb in there. It’s news hype. “Let’s scare the crap out of them so they watch our news program tonight.” – that’s all it is. They increase the number of viewers, record it, and present the numbers to their advertisers. The more viewers they have, the more advertising dollars they get.
SOME DAY, people will wise up. SOME DAY the news stations won’t report on the local homeless Tuba Man being an alleged gang member, but instead offer ways of how you can help the homeless. The media is fed by you. When you mandate their diet, THEY WILL CONFORM. But it is up to you. “But I’m just one person.” BULL! YOU are a voice. When you speak, your friends and family listen. And they tell their friends and family. And it goes on. Stop being complacent. Stop being a pushover. Stop getting pushed around by the media. Stand up for yourself! Say, “I’m sick of your scare tactics, “R-rated news” and lies that attempt to make me afraid in my own neighborhood. Give me news that makes my life better!”
